From San Terenzo, the villages of the 5 terre and Portovenere are a short boat trip away and well connected from Lerici.
The hills behind Lerici include the Montemarcello Park with its numerous trails and its botanical gardens. One spectacular trail leads to Tellaro, a fascinating little port which rates in the “beautiful villages of Italy” charts.
Only 7 kms away is the Medieval city of Sarzana, famed not only for its impressive fort but for its maze of alleys hosting craftsmen, repair and restoration workshops and antique shops. Sarzana is home to numerous cultural events including the important antiques market “la Soffitta in Strada” (attic in the street) held in August and the philosophical “Festival della Mente” (mind fest) held in September.
Pisa, Lucca and Firenze are easy day trips by car or by train from here.
